AFPG Monroe and Little Rock Teams Work Together to Raise $6,500 for a Louisiana Children’s Home

AFPG Monroe-Little Rock

The AFPG Monroe and Little Rock teams recently participated in the annual Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home – Guns & Golf Classic. This event brings in golfers and clay shooters from across Louisiana and nearby states to support a great cause. Together, the AFPG Monroe and Little Rock teams raised $6,500.

The fundraiser consisted of two events – a sporting clay shoot and a golf tournament. The Brenda Hall Abney Guns & Golf Classic was created by Roy O. Martin, Chairman Jonathan E. Martin and his wife, Maggie. This event was created in memory of the late Brenda Hall Abney, who passed away in 2005 from breast cancer. Brenda grew up in the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, LA. She later attended Louisiana College, where she was figuratively adopted by Jonathan and Maggie in 1983. Since then, more than $2.4 million has been raised from these tournaments to support the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.

The Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home is a non-profit dedicated to serving children and families in need since 1899. Donations from events like this one have been put toward programming and facility upgrades and additions. Through the support of generous companies in Louisiana and around the world, the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home is able to provide help and hope without cost to those who cannot afford care. They also accomplish this feat without the support of state or federal funding.

Past donations have enabled the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home to build a safer, more secure campus for needy mothers and their children, as well as aided the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in providing valuable technology and life-skills training for their continued growth.

AFPG is proud of our Monroe and Little Rock divisions for donating and participating in such a great and meaningful cause.
