AFPG Houston Achieves Champion Level Craft Training Endorsement from Construction Career Collaborative

Constuction Award

AFPG’s Houston division recently achieved the Champion Level Endorsement from Construction Career Collaborative (C3). The Craft Training Endorsement (CTE) program has rigorous standards that measure a company’s Craft Training Program against a training framework. This endorsement is achieved through the development, implementation, and evaluation of robust craft training connected to career paths for craft professionals. Launched in 2018, C3’s CTE program provides recognition to world class construction firms that have documented and implemented training programs that:

  • Demonstrate corporate leadership’s commitment to the development of craft workers
  • Implement craft training programs for all craft workers
  • Establish a more sustainable workforce through craft training connected to career paths

“C3 is a great organization that will help us find new talent in the Houston area who share our values and expertise. We are thankful to C3 for this endorsement and we look forward to growing our team in 2020.” – Marty Rafter, Division Leader, AFPG-Houston.

The CTE offers three levels of endorsement and a professional coaching program for those who are just beginning to design training programs. The levels show progression from a rudimentary to mature craft training program. Companies are encouraged to achieve higher levels of endorsement as their programs progress. The levels describe companies at varying stages of development.

“The construction industry must deliver strong craft training programs connected to career paths in order to create a sustainable workforce built on well trained and safe craft professionals.”  – Jim Stevenson, President of McCarthy Building, and Chairman of the Board at C3.

The CTE program follows a standard certification process that allows a company to self- assess their current state. They then apply for endorsement at the desired level by submitting an application and undergoing a thorough audit of the training program by C3. When a company joins the CTE program they are afforded professional learning and development coaching services as part of the program.  Any company looking to design, develop, or alter training programs can work with a C3 professional coach to identify gaps, design frameworks, lay out implementation plans, or develop curriculum.
