Regional Safety & Risk Management Leader

This position will be responsible for continuously improving the Company’s Health and Safety Program and Policies to best practice standards while driving compliance to applicable regulatory standards. This individual will plan, lead, and direct the Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and execute other assigned duties within their assigned divisions. Candidate will coordinate the development of policies, programs, processes, procedures, standards, tools, and training to facilitate standardization and consistency. They will continuously build and enhance the Company’s Safety & Risk Management’s First Culture and values, demonstrate the ability to lead a progressive organization, determine safety and risk management risks, devise, and implement programs and processes that drive constant improvement. This individual communicates all division safety and risk data to their Division Leaders and the Corporate Director of Safety & Risk Management. AFPG divisions supported will include Houston, San Antonio, College Station and Katy, Texas.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or related degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years successful work experience as a safety professional
  • Working knowledge of federal and state safety regulations, including OSHA standards
  • Proven experience and the ability to change a safety culture
  • Ability to review, analyze, and discuss safety and risk management information and data
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational/facilitative leadership skills with strong relationship-building skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in the Microsoft package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Proven ability to work as a TEAMmate
  • Exceptional planning, time-management, and follow-through
  • Favorable driving record
  • Ability to travel at least 50% overnight

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Construction experience
  • Approved OSHA 500/501 trainer
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • Support and enhance Behavior-Based Safety Program throughout multiple divisions and AFPG
  • Collaborate on the direction of company’s overall health and safety program - this includes implementing APi Group, Inc. health and safety programs and/or company specific programs unique to the business
  • Supporting company risk management goals and objectives and incorporating them into division business plan(s)
  • Communicate with and involve division leadership with respect to risk management goals, objectives and key performance indicators
  • Explore, research, adapt new products, programs and/or technology that will further enhance the company’s safety performance
  • Regularly engage with field TEAM members to assist and monitor loss prevention efforts
  • Be available 24/7 to receive communication and provide assistance to TEAMs working in multiple geographic areas
  • Travel requirements of up to and more than 50% to support multiple geographic areas in the region
  • Champion and coach/mentor TEAM members on behavior-based safety programs and initiatives that focus on impacting behaviors through interactions
  • Develop division leadership through coaching, feedback, and continued training activities to assist in building the skills necessary to execute loss prevention activities
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with all state and federal regulations
  • Create and deliver training opportunities to all levels of the AFPG TEAM
  • Perform frequent job site evaluations, determine TEAM member exposure(s) and institute acceptable work practices
  • Investigate losses as per AFPG policies and procedures
  • Monitor and measure loss performance at regional and project levels
  • Participate in claim reviews with appropriate leadership personnel
  • Continuously search for trends in incidents reported and opportunities for prevention
  • Explore, research, adapt new products, programs and/or technology that will further enhance the company’s safety performance
  • Proactively interact with and provide recommendations to Corporate Director of Safety and Risk Management on initiatives and processes as relevant and prioritized for the region
  • Prepare the Division Office safety reports and track and trend critical indicators, ensuring the same is reported to the Corporate Director of Safety and Risk Management and API Group as appropriate
  • Be responsible for the Safety Committee meetings, daily huddles, etc. at each office
  • Oversee OSHA compliance, record keeping compliance, and personal protective equipment selection
  • Liaison between AFPG Corporate Risk Management and division office
  • Maintain confidentiality in regards to injuries and claims
  • Coordinate onboarding programs
  • Other duties as assigned based on needs of the business
