Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act Introduced in the Senate
On January 22nd, Senators Tom Carper (DE) and Susan Collins (ME) introduced the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act in the Senate. This bill would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to classify automatic fire sprinkler systems as 5-year property for purposes of depreciation. The bill, S. 2947, was referred to the Senate Finance Committee for consideration. MORE

Builders must offer sprinklers for new homes in Rock Hill, Mo.
The Rock Hill Board of Aldermen introduced a bill requiring builders to offer fire suppression sprinkler systems in any new construction of single family dwellings or multi-family homes of four or fewer units. The bill, which keeps the city in compliance with state law, contains a sunset clause causing it to expire in 2011 unless the state legislature re-enacts it. MORE
